NVIDIA GTX 480 – Specs and Price
Here’s a bit of tech news for you.
More (useful) light has finally been shed upon NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 480 and 470 cards, slated by fanboys of the corporation to be the second coming of God. What I mean, of course, is that we now have the price tags and specifications.
GeForce GTX 480 : 480 SP, 700/1401/1848MHz core/shader/mem, 384-bit, 1536MB, 295W TDP, US$499
GeForce GTX 470 : 448 SP, 607/1215/1674MHz core/shader/mem, 320-bit, 1280MB, 225W TDP, US$349
Source (you may want to check up on this, as they’ve lately been adding (and deleting) updates)
Through benchmarks, it appears that the GTX 470 is 5-10% faster than the Radeon HD 5850. The GTX 480 got similar results when compared with the HD 5870.

The GPUs’ launch date is still set for March 26th.
Well, it’s time for me to pull out the old piggy bank and return those interview calls. And perhaps someday, when I’m wealthy enough, I’ll even purchase a slew of 480’s, run strings through their funny loop holes (yes, I know those are heat pipes), and hang them up in my living room. It shall be glorious.
Cool. I can’t wait for this
